My story (in cars)
In 2002 . . .
I bought a white 1971 BMW 2002. It was a little rusty, a little dusty, and parked on a San Francisco street corner with a ‘for sale’ sign that called my name. At age 23, this was how my love affair with classic cars began.
The first thing you learn from daily driving a vintage car is that mechanical aptitude can literally get you to work on time.
So I set about reading, wrenching, meeting mentors, wrenching some more, and learning everything I could to be able to overcome the mechanical challenges which are so often part of the hobby.
The second thing you learn is that every old car has its own personality.
These machines have stories to tell, filled with sights, sounds, and smells, which I quickly came to adore. That unique character has led to a bit of an obsession with experiencing different classics from different countries and different eras.
It’s the feel of old cars that I love most. The analogue feel. Moderns just don’t have it.
Jump forward to 2014 – after many rallies, many road trips, and many old cars bought and sold. I moved to Europe and became fascinated with the selection of vehicles that we didn’t have in the ‘States.
Hopping country borders to hunt them down became part of the thrill, and over the years I was lucky enough to buy, sell, import, and export cars in several countries across Europe and North America. And now, 23 years into the hobby, I’ve decided to make this passion a profession.
I’m Davin, and I’d love to put my experience sourcing vehicles across borders to work for you.
Analogue Motors is my operation based in London, with Goodwood, Bicester Motion, and the amazing classic scene of the UK all around me.
But this is far from a one man show. I work in partnership with experienced professionals and enthusiasts in the UK, Germany, France, Italy, and on the East and West coasts of the USA to simplify the complexities of buying, selling, and connecting great machines with loving owners.
It’s all about bringing a little more analogue motoring joy to this modern life.
